A Guide for Finding Hope in the Landscape of Loss

Touching Two Worlds helps readers re-learn how to grieve at a time of collective mourning.

Winner of the 2023 Nautilus Silver Award

In Touching Two Worlds, a trauma psychologist explores the inner workings of her own grief—and leaves a kind of hand-drawn map for those rebuilding hope in the aftermath of loss.

Dr. Sherry Walling: Why I wrote this book

Inside the Book

  • Take-a-moment reflection exercises

  • Marking grief anniversaries

  • Talking to kids about death

  • How to cry in public

  • Movement as grief therapy

Movement as Therapy

In Touching Two Worlds, Dr. Sherry writes about alternative grief therapy—and that time she joined the circus. Aerial arts helped ease her grief, so she launched Circus for the Brokenhearted to help others heal through movement.

Original Circus Show

To honor Mental Health Awareness Month, Sherry and the Twin Cities circus community created an original show featuring Touching Two Worlds and storytelling through circus arts.
